The IntelliVue MX40 is a portable patient monitor. Designed to support continuous ECG and SpO2 and optional impedance breathing in ambulatory patients. Short-range radio options allow connection to IntelliVue wireless measurements or IntelliVue patient monitors for additional adjustments. The MX40 display provides instant access to patient information at the point of care.

The MX40 is mainly operated via the touchscreen. Almost all elements of the display are interactive. Display elements include measurement numbers, information fields, alarm fields, waveforms, smart buttons and menus.

Power-On Self Test

After the MX40 has been powered by the battery, it will perform a power-on self-test to verify its operational status before turning on. If an error is detected, a trouble beep will sound and, if possible, a trouble message corresponding to the error will be transmitted to the message center and displayed locally. After a successful POST, the MX40 will appear on the home screen. An optional background color can be configured and displayed on the screen for easy identification of the device. This is useful when the device is shared. If the MX40 goes into a continuous “boot” cycle or the main display does not appear or update, make sure you are using a freshly charged Lithium Ion battery or a new disposable battery. If the battery is new and the device restarts or fails to update, stop using the device and contact a service technician. Visually verify that the waveform appears on the screen. You can access additional status information by tapping the status area of ​​the screen.

Navigating

Touch the navigation bar on the right side of the screen to scroll through other items on display. A solid down arrow indicates that several items are not currently displayed. The arrow lights up briefly when touched. The selected menu item also lights up when touched.

Select the item to display

Touch the displayed item to access the actions associated with that item. For example, touching patient information displays the patient information window and touching the heart rate numbers displays the ECG settings menu. Touching an ECG waveform displays the waveform selection menu.

Locking the Display

For added protection against accidental access to the MX40, the screen can be locked using the Lock SmartKey. When Lock is selected, the SmartKey menu automatically switches to the home screen. After selecting Unlock, the SmartKey menu must be closed to return to the home screen.
