Pulse Oximetry Measurement
MX40 supports SpO2 sensor connection using Fourier Artifact Suppression Technology (FAST). The FAST algorithm overcomes many problems
associated with traditional pulse oximetry, such as: B. sensitivity to patient movement and strong ambient light. This algorithm provides better
motion artifact suppression and performance in patients with hypoperfusion. SpO2 can be measured continuously, with values sent to the
information center every second, or as a single individual manual measurement. After 1 hour, manual measurements will be removed from the
Notification Center display.
The SpO2 parameter measures arterial oxygen saturation, which is the percentage of oxygen-containing hemoglobin compared to the total
hemoglobin. For example, if a total of 97% of the hemoglobin molecules in arterial red blood cells are bound to oxygen, the blood oxygen
saturation will be 97%. The SpO2 value displayed on the monitor is 97%. The SpO2 number indicates the percentage of hemoglobin molecules
that combine with oxygen molecules to form oxyhemoglobin.
Measuring ECG
An electrocardiogram (ECG) measures the electrical activity of the heart and displays it as waveforms and numbers on the MX40 and the
Information Center. To compare the measured ECG signals, electrodes (or patient cables) are placed in standard positions to form "leads."
Different lead sets are used in different configurations to obtain optimized ECG signals for use in diagnosis and patient management in different
medical settings. Standard, hexad, and EASI lead placements are available with the MX40. Heart rate calculations are located in the MX40's
arrhythmia algorithm. Arrhythmia analysis is always active for telemetry patients. Arrhythmia analysis is basic or advanced depending on product
configuration
