Valleylab Force FX FX-8C electrosurgical Generator machine power supply board 02-32380-0071
When the control board supply voltage falls below 4.65V, the power monitoring circuit (U14) (a MAX691) generates a reset signal and a reset signal to the main microcontroller (U5). It also generates a voltage-sensitive chip select signal. Available for PSD412 (U6) and PSD413 (U3). A low voltage threshold (4.65V) puts U3 and U6 into sleep mode and disables the external 2K x 8 static RAM.
The Power/RF board
The Power/RF board is the main board of the generator. Includes the high voltage power supply and the RF output stage. The circuitry on this board performs several other functions:
• Output voltage monitoring
• Output current monitoring
• Leakage current detection (HF leakage current detection and step-down switching)
• Spark control circuit
• REM impedance monitoring (REM circuit)
• Detection of manual switching on of the circuit breaker (IsoBloc circuit)
• RS-232 port
• Expansion plug
• ECG contact closure connection
• High voltage output relay
• Temperature monitoring and fan control.
High voltage power supply
Potentially life-threatening AC and DC voltages are present in the AC and high-voltage DC circuits described in this manual, as well as the associated spotlights and mounting accessories. They are not isolated from AC power lines. Take precautions when testing and troubleshooting this area of the generator.
The high voltage supply section includes the power input circuit, the automatic power switching circuit, the AC/DC conversion circuit and the DC/DC switching regulator.
Low voltage power supply
The low voltage power supply is 40 watts. Provides stable +5VDC and ±12VDC output. The power supply automatically adapts to two input voltage ranges. It also has an internal current limit. The pin assignment between the low voltage power supply and the power/RF board is as follows:
PIN | Voltage | Test Point |
1 | +5 Vdc | TP8 |
2 | –12 Vdc | TP5 |
3 | +12 Vdc | TP6 |
4 | GROUND | TP9 |
The low voltage power supply specifications are as follows:
Output Voltage | Output Current | Output Power* |
+5 Vdc | 4000 mA | 20.0 W |
–12 Vdc | 400 mA | 4.8 W |
+12 Vdc | 2000 mA | 24.0 W |
