There are various connection methods between aluminum profiles and polycarbonate sheets, and the following are some common connection methods:
Screw connection
Method: Pre drill holes on aluminum profiles and polycarbonate sheets, and then fix them together with screws. In order to prevent damage to polycarbonate sheets when screws are tightened, washers such as rubber or nylon washers are usually placed between the screw head and the sheet to provide cushioning and sealing.
Features: Strong connection, able to withstand large tensile and shear forces, suitable for connecting various types of aluminum profiles and polycarbonate sheets. Installation and disassembly are relatively convenient, making it easy for later maintenance and replacement of boards. However, attention should be paid to the accuracy of drilling and the tightening force of screws to avoid cracking or inadequate sealing of the board.
Card slot connection
Method: Design specific card slots on aluminum profiles, and the edges of polycarbonate sheets can be embedded in the card slots. The shape and size of the card slot match the edge of the board, and rubber or sealing strips are usually installed inside the card slot to enhance sealing and prevent board wear.
Features: Simple and fast installation, able to quickly complete the installation of panels and improve construction efficiency. The appearance after connection is relatively beautiful, with small gaps between the board and the profile, resulting in a good overall effect. At the same time, the sealing strip can effectively prevent rainwater, dust, etc. from entering, and has good waterproof and dustproof performance. However, high precision is required for the machining of the card slot to ensure that the board can be tightly embedded.
Adhesive connection
Method: Use specialized adhesive to bond aluminum profiles and polycarbonate sheets together. Before bonding, it is necessary to clean and treat the surfaces of both to improve the bonding effect. Common adhesives include silicone glue, polyurethane glue, etc. These adhesives have good bonding performance and weather resistance.
Features: The connection surface is flat, without obvious connection marks, and has high aesthetic appeal. Adhesives can fill the small gaps between boards and profiles, providing excellent sealing and waterproof and dustproof performance. Moreover, adhesive connections can buffer external forces to a certain extent, reducing stress concentration caused by vibration or temperature changes. However, the construction requirements for adhesive connections are high, and it is necessary to strictly follow the instructions for using the adhesive. Once bonded, it is difficult to disassemble in the later stage.
Pressure strip connection
Method: Use aluminum or rubber pressure strips to fix the polycarbonate sheet onto the aluminum profile. The pressure strip is installed on the profile by screws or other fixing methods to press the edge of the board tightly. This method is usually used for splicing or edge fixation of boards.
Features: The tightening degree of the pressure strip can be adjusted as needed to meet different installation requirements. It has a good protective effect on the edges of polycarbonate sheets to prevent damage to the edges. At the same time, the installation and disassembly of the pressure strip are relatively convenient, making it easy to carry out local maintenance or replacement of the board. However, the connection of the pressure strip needs to ensure the quality of the pressure strip and the flatness of the installation, otherwise it may cause uneven stress on the board.
