BS4504 Carbon Steel Threaded Flanges/Raised Face Threaded Flanges ASTM A105 2 Inch Threaded Pipe Flange PN 40 for Oil and Gas Piping Systems
Introduction of BS4504 Threaded Flanges:
A threaded flange is designed to connect to a threaded pipe without requiring welding, offering a practical solution where welding is impractical, time-consuming, or not feasible.
Threaded flanges are particularly advantageous for alloy steel flanges that are strong but pose challenges for welding or have poor welding performance. They provide a reliable alternative for achieving a secure connection without the complexities associated with welding. However, it's essential to note the temperature limitations of threaded flanges. They are not suitable for applications involving rapid temperature changes or where temperatures exceed 260°C or fall below -45°C, as this could lead to potential leakage.
In terms of their structure, threaded flanges resemble Slip-On flanges but are specifically bored to match the inner diameter of the pipe. The backside of the central opening is threaded with tapered pipe threads of the appropriate size to ensure a precise fit between the flange and the pipe.
The primary advantage of threaded flanges lies in their elimination of welding requirements. This simplifies installation and reduces additional torque applied to the pipe or vessel during flange assembly. By avoiding welding-related stresses, threaded flanges are well-suited for high-pressure pipe connections where maintaining joint integrity is critical.
