Petroleum Paste is a soft, brown primer made of petrolatum. The paste contains compounds that help displace moisture and inhibit corrosion. It can be applied easily using a brush or gloved hand at normal temperature. Unlike other primers, Petroleum Paste does not crack, dry, or harden over time.
Petroleum Paste is mainly used as a primer before applying petrolatum tapes. The paste penetrates rusted surfaces, displaces moisture, and pacifies the surface to aid in the adhesion of tapes and mastic. This ensures that the tapes and mastic bond tightly and firmly to the surface. Using Petroleum Paste also helps to protect surfaces from further corrosion and damage, prolonging their lifespan.
To remove rust, use a wire brush and wipe the surface with rags to get rid of any soil or debris.
To ensure long-lasting protection, PETRO PASTE should be applied regularly by hand in the range of 300-500g/m2.
If you need to apply on a complicated or uneven surface, use PETRO PASTE as a filler. This is especially useful in areas such as valves, flanges, and uneven surfaces where there may be spaces left when tape wrapping.
To ensure maximum effectiveness, allow the tape to overlap for at least 15 minutes (at a rate of 30-50%). Afterwards, level the tape with your hands, stroking along the lines to remove any joints that may have formed during the wrapping process.
For finishing purposes, P.V.C OUTER TAPE can be used. There are various colors available to indicate environmental situations.
Petrolatum Paste is a highly refined mixture of waxes and mineral oils that provide a barrier against moisture and other environmental factors. It is commonly used in a variety of industries for its water-repellent and protective properties.
