In addition, it is highly impermeable to water vapor and gases. Its primary use is for protecting pipes, rods, cables, valves, and metal fittings from corrosion, whether buried or exposed.

This type of tape is made up of non-woven fiber fabric coated with a neutral compound that is based on saturated petrolatum and inert siliceous fillers.
