Single layer winding is a kind of winding with only one effective side of coil embedded in each stator slot, so its total number of coils is only half of the total number of motor slots. The advantages of single-layer winding are that the process of less winding coil number is relatively simple; the utilization rate of slot without interlayer insulation is improved; the single-layer structure will not have interphase breakdown fault, etc. The disadvantage is that the electromagnetic wave generated by the winding is not ideal, the motor core loss and noise are large, and the starting performance is also slightly poor, so the single-layer winding is generally only used in small capacity asynchronous motor.

Beehive style

If the plane of the coil is not parallel to the rotating plane, but intersects at a certain angle, the coil is called honeycomb coil. The number of times that the conductor bends back and forth in one revolution is often called the number of turns. The advantages of the honeycomb winding method are small volume, small distributed capacitance and large inductance. The honeycomb coil is wound by the honeycomb winding machine. The more the folding point is, the smaller the distributed capacitance is.
The volume of honeycomb coil is small, the potential capacitance is small, the inductance is large, and the Q value is high, so the tuning coil, oscillation coil and high frequency choke coil of many radios are wound in this way, the effect is better than other ways. In the factory, this kind of coil is usually made by honeycomb car.
