Storm bollards are used formooring ships during storms, and are generally located behind docks. Some ports don't have storm bollards because there is littlechance of typhoon, or ships don't take shelter in the harbor when there is strong wind. In some ports, in order not to hinder theoperation of loading and unloading transportation machinery, storm bollards are not set up at the rear of wharves, but the size ofnormal type bollards is increased so that they can also be used in strong winds.
