Physical properties

(1) Moisture return rate. Under the standard condition, the moisture regaining rate of polyester is 0.4%, which is lower than that of acrylic (1%-2%) and polyamide (4%). Polyester has low hygroscopicity, so its wet strength decreases less and the fabric is washable and wearable. But when processing and wearing the electrostatic phenomenon is serious, the fabric air permeability and moisture absorption is poor.

(2) Thermal performance. Polyester softening point T is 230-240℃, melting point Tm is 255-265℃, decomposition point T is about 300℃. Polyester in the fire can burn, curl, and melt into beads, black smoke and aroma.

(3) Light resistance. Its light resistance is second only to acrylic fiber. The light resistance of polyester is related to its molecular structure. Polyester only has a strong absorption band in the 315nm light wave region, so its strength only loses 60% after 600h of sunlight irradiation, which is similar to cotton.

(4) Electrical performance. Polyester is an excellent insulator because of its low moisture absorption and poor electrical conductivity. Its dielectric constant is 3.0~3.8 in the range of -100~+160℃.
