Parts Machining Service

CNC machining, standing for Computer Numerical Control machining, is a subtractive manufacturing

process utilized to fabricate parts by selectively removing material from a workpiece or workpiece

stock.

Precise control over the machine's movements is achieved through preprogrammed software and

codes. The scope of CNC machining encompasses various machinery types, including turning mills,

lathes, grinders, and plasma-cutting machines.

Product Details

We have the capability to work with a wide variety of materials in CNC machining, such as carbon

alloys, aluminum, brass, stainless steel, high nickel alloys, and engineered plastics.

Our team is dedicated to guiding you in choosing the most suitable material for your particular

application. Even if you are contemplating materials outside our standard list, we are well-equipped

to provide assistance and expertise for the best outcomes.

Common Materials
Name Description
Aluminum High machinability and ductility, good strength-to-weight ratio.
Stainless steel High tensile strength, corrosion and temperature resistant.
Mild steel High machinability and weldability, high stiffness.
Brass Low friction, excellent electrical conductivity, golden appearance.
Copper Excellent thermal and electrical conductivity.
Titanium Excellent strength to weight ratio, used in aerospace, automotive and medical industries.
ABS Common thermoplastic, impact resistant, easy to machine.
Nylon Excellent mechanical properties, thermal, chemical and abrasion resistant.
POM High stiffness, high accuracy, low friction, easy to machine.

Post-processing and surface finishes for CNC machining

CNC-machined parts as they emerge from the machine often exhibit visible tool marks, a feature

that may not align with your specific part requirements.

Fortunately, there exists a multitude of post-processing techniques aimed at enhancing the surface

appearance and elevating attributes such as wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and chemical

resistance.

Methods like anodizing, bead blasting, and powder coating present viable options for refining the

final presentation of your custom parts, allowing you to achieve the desired surface quality and

performance characteristics.

Surface Finishes
Name Applicable to Machining marks
As machined Metals, Plastics Visible, light surface scratches

Fine machining Metals Slightly visible
Polishing Metals Removed on primary surfaces
Bead blasting Metals Removed for non-cosmetic, removed on primary surfaces for cosmetic
Brushing Metals
Anodizing Type II Aluminum
Anodizing Type III Aluminum Visible under anodizing
Black oxide Copper, Stainless steel, Alloy steel, Tool steel, Mild steel Visible
Powder coating Metals Removed
Brushed + electropolishing Stainless steel Removed on Primary surfaces

Specialist Industries

CNC machinery finds widespread application across a spectrum of industries, notably in aerospace,

automotive parts manufacturing, medical machine manufacturing, transportation, defense, marine,

oil and gas, and electronics.

The precision and efficiency offered by CNC machining have revolutionized these sectors, enabling

them to streamline the mass production of custom CNC parts.

From crafting intricate components in aerospace to precision parts in medical devices, CNC

machinery serves as a cornerstone in enhancing efficiency and accuracy in manufacturing processes.

FAQ's

1. What are the minimum and maximum dimensions you can machine?

Our CNC machining services cover a range of processes, including milling (3-axis, 3+2-axis,

and 5-axis) and turning. In 3/3+2-axis CNC milling, we can machine parts with dimensions up to

2000 x 1500 x 200 mm (78.7 x 59.0 x 7.8 in.).

For 5-axis milling, the maximum part size is 650 x 650 x 300 mm (25.5 x 25.5 x 11.8 in.).

CNC turning allows for a maximum diameter of 431 mm (17 in.) and a length of 990 mm (39 in.).

When considering smaller parts, we recommend a minimum size of around 10 x 10 x 10 mm

(0.39 x 0.39 x 0.39 in.), with feature dimensions not going below 0.5 mm.

It's important to note that our

platform has a maximum part size limitation of 1000 mm (39 in.). For larger requirements, please

reach out to our sales team for personalized assistance.

2. How much does CNC machining cost?

The cost of CNC machining hinges on factors such as complexity, quantity, and lead time.

For an accurate cost estimate, we recommend submitting a 3D CAD model to receive an interactive

quote along with design for manufacturability (DFM) feedback.

Thanks to our proprietary software and automated fixturing processes, upfront non-recurring

engineering (NRE) costs are eliminated. This makes CNC machining economically viable for quantities

ranging from 1 to 200 parts. While prices may align or slightly exceed those of 3D printing,

CNC machining offers superior material properties and surface finishes.

3. What's the general surface texture of CNC milled and turned parts?

In the realm of CNC machining, milled parts typically display a surface roughness of approximately

3.2μm (or 1.6μm for newer machines). In contrast, turned parts exhibit a finer surface texture with

a roughness of 0.8μm. Importantly, this finer surface finish in turning is achieved without the need

for adjusting machining speeds.
