Brass is an alloy composed of copper and zinc, cupronickel is an alloy of copper and nickel, bronze is an alloy of copper and elements other than zinc and nickel, mainly tin bronze, aluminum bronze, etc., copper is a high copper content The total content of other impurities is below 1%.
1. Copper
Red copper is pure copper, also known as red copper. The density of pure copper is 8.96 and the melting point is 1083 ℃. It has good electrical and thermal conductivity, excellent plasticity, and is easy to be processed by hot pressing and cold pressing.
2. Brass
Copper alloys with zinc as the main additive element have a beautiful yellow color and are collectively referred to as brass. The copper-zinc binary alloy is called ordinary brass or simple brass. Brass with more than three yuan is called special brass or complex brass.
3. White copper
A copper alloy with nickel as the main additive element. The copper-nickel binary alloy is called ordinary cupronickel; the cupronickel alloy with manganese, iron, zinc, aluminum and other elements is called complex cupronickel. Industrial cupronickel is divided into two categories: structural cupronickel and electrical cupronickel. The characteristics of structural cupronickel are good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, and beautiful color. This cupronickel is widely used in the manufacture of precision machinery, chemical machinery and ship components.
4. Bronze
Originally refers to copper-tin alloys, and later copper alloys except brass and cupronickel are called bronze, and the name of the first main added element is often prefixed to the name of bronze. Tin bronze has good casting performance, anti-friction performance and good mechanical performance, and is suitable for manufacturing bearings, worm gears, gears, etc. Lead bronze is a widely used bearing material for modern engines and grinders.

FAQ:
Q1: What are turning tools?
A: Turning tools are used on lathes for cutting or finishing the outside diameter of a workpiece. Turning tools can be used to produce cylindrical parts. In its basic form, turning can be defined as the machining of an external surface with the workpiece rotating, or with a single-point cutting tool.
Q2: What are types of inserts?
A: Four-sided insert shapes include diamond, square, rectangular and Rhombic. A diamond insert is a four-sided insert with two acute angles used for material removal. Square cutting tips have four equal sides. Rectangular inserts have four sides, two of which are longer than the other two.
Q3: What is the most common lathe turning insert?
A: The most common turning insert sold in North America today is a CNMG 432. This insert is capable of almost 0.250" (6.35mm) depth of cut.
Q4: How to choose correct turning insert?
A: There are many parameters to consider when choosing a turning insert. Carefully select insert geometry, insert grade, insert shape (nose angle), insert size, nose radius and entering (lead) angle, to achieve good chip control and machining performance.
Select insert geometry based on selected operation, for example finishing
Select the largest possible nose angle on the insert for strength and economy
Select the insert size depending on the depth of cut
Select the largest possible nose radius for insert strength
Select a smaller nose radius if there is a tendency for vibration
Q5: What are precision turned parts?
A: Precision Turned Parts Precision turned parts are parts that have been machined with extremely tight tolerances. The majority of precision turned parts are formed through a simple yet important process known as CNC turning.
