FAQ
1. Q: When should Galvalume not be used?
A: Galvalume should not be used on, in, or around concrete or mortar. Concrete and mortar are highly alkaline environments. Bare Galvalume and painted Galvalume sheets suffer rapid corrosion when in contact with mortar and concrete. Bare Galvanized and painted Galvanized perform better in this type of environment.
2.Q: Why does Galvalume turn black?
A: The dark stains that are at times visible on galvannealed sheet are caused by the same wet storage conditions that cause white rust on galvanized surfaces. Since galvannealed sheet is often shipped “dry, no oil, no surface passivation”, it is very important to control the shipping and storage of this product.
3. Q: Is Galvalume shiny?
A: Galvanized steel has a shiny silver finish, while Galvalume has a matte gray finish. This difference in appearance is due to the composition of the coating. The aluminum and silicon in the Galvalume coating give it a duller appearance. When it comes to cost, Galvanized steel is generally cheaper than Galvalume.
