Description

High Current Resistance Polymer PPTC Thermistor Self-Locking Operation

The Cooper Bussmann family of PolyTron™ resettable PPTCs is ideally suitedfor protecting applications sensitive to high ambient operating temperatures orsubject to frequent overcurrent conditions.PPTCs operate as a positive temperature coefficient device. High temperatures and excessive current will cause the device resistance to increase until it limits the unsafe current level.Upon reaching the design temperature/current limit, the PPTC will effectively“open” the circuit to provide protection from the overcurrent or elevated ambient temperature condition.Once the fault is removed or the ambient temperature cools, the PPTC will automatically “reset” and conduct safe current levels again, allowing current to flow through the circuit.PPTCs are commonly used in applications where constant uptime is required and/or in circuits not easily accessible by a user or service technician.Available in surface mount and radial packages, Cooper Bussmann resettable PPTCs help improve the safety and reliability of customer equipment worldwide.

PPTC resettable fuse features:

1. The resistance temperature is high, ten to a hundred times larger than that of metal, and it is more sensitive to temperature changes;
2. The working controllable temperature range is wide, which is suitable for normal temperature devices, high temperature devices and low temperature devices;
3. Long working time and long service life;
4. Small size, it can measure the temperature that other temperature measuring devices cannot measure;
5. The application and structure are simple, and it is very convenient to use. The resistance value can be arbitrarily selected between 0.1~100kΩ, and it can also be processed and produced;
6. Stable performance and strong overload capacity.
