Unlike traditional 4G network, 5G Wireless communication demands ultra-reliable, higher bandwidth, and higher speed for internet of everything. The new wireless station adopts the millimeter wave technology for more spectrum resources and increased bandwidth up to 100MHz, five times that of 4G LTE. The high-speed access demands the new CPRI protocol and eCPRI protocol for physical-layer interconnect at 25Gbps and 100Gbps.
Because millimetre wave is a high-frequency band, 5G Wireless antenna features high path loss than 4G Wireless and requires more base stations for regional distribution. The increased construction cost of base stations pushes carriers to choose CRAN architecture for 5G fronthaul, using distributed micro-base stations and centralized site offices. The new base station integrates the remote radio unit and antenna into one unit called Active-Antenna Unit (AAU). And 4G BBUs in the central office break downs into two layers with DU and CU for more efficient management.
The typical architecture of 5G Wireless is made up of Fronthaul from AAU to DU, Midhaul from DU to CU and Backhaul from CU to core carrier ethernet.
Top-Trans TSFP28-25G-LR-I is a CRPI Gray SFP transceiver designed for 5G fronthaul and Midhaul, enabling the interconnection between AAU, DU and CU in the distance of 10km. It features 1310NM wavelength, SFP28 interfaces and LC Duplex connectors fully compliant with SFP28 MSA, CPRI and eCPRI standards. It has built DDM/DOM diagnostic function to monitor the online operation status.
