Arista QSFP28 100G PAM4 Single Lambda Optics 10KM SMF LC Duplex QSFP-100G-LR1
100G Single Lambda is the new technology developed for QSFP28 100G optics by the MSA group, designed to cut down the high cost operation for operators using the existing 100G SR4, LR4, CWDM4 and PSM4. 100G Single Lambda uses PAM4 optical modulation to couple 4*25G NRZ eletrical signal into 1*100G PAM4 Single lambda laser with the gearbox DSP chip. The single lambda PAM4 modulation greatly simplifies the complexity of mux/demux and integrate four 25G signals into a 100G link and cut down the costly optical components.
The 100G Lambda optics uses single wavelength of 1310nm and PAM4 50GBaud modulation, so enables the compatiblility with same QSFP-DD 400G optics. Such as, QSFP-DD PLR4 Optics uses 4 parallel link of 1310NM 100G PAM4 50GBaud optical signal, can link to four 100G-LR Single lambda QSFP28 100G Optics with Breakout cables and provide the smooth transition from 100G into 400G.
The Arista compatible QSFP28 100G LR1 Transceivers can be plugged into any Arista 100G QSFP port. The electrical connector interface is 4 * 25G NRZ, the same as all existing legacy QSFP28 100G modules. But, not like 100G LR4 mux/demux 4 * 25G NRZ optical signal into one fiber, the QSFP28 100G LR1 Transceivers uses a gearbox chip to convert the 4 * 25G NRZ electrical signals into a 1 * 100G PAM4 optical signal and couples into the single wavelength laser (or "lambda") for transmission. Due to different optical modulation, QSFP28 100G LR1 modules will not interoperate with legacy 100G LR4 module.
The Top-Trans QSFP28 100G PAM4 LR1 optics uses single lambda signal of 50GBaud on 1310nm center wavelength and supports the link lengths of up to 10km via G.652 single mode fiber. The Top-Trans QSFP28 100G PAM4 LR1 optics uses PAM4 optical modulation and FEC and is fully compliant with MSA QSFP28 100GBASE-LR Single Lambda. The QSFP28 100G PAM4 LR1 optics can extend the fiber link to interconnect nearby infrastructure within 10km and be ideal for the interconnect of spine to core or spine/spine or DCI etc for campus & data center network.
