Components of Long Span Shelving

• Upright Frame

Upright fame consists of horizontal bracing, diagonal bracing, and two posts. Horizontal bracing and diagonal bracing are bolted between the two posts. The posts come in a variety of heights and depths to suit different-sized cargoes.

• Beam

Beam is the connection between two upright frames and plays the role of holding the load placed in the shelving.

• Shelf

• Long-span shelving is an ideal choice if you have the following demands: (1) You have cartons and medium-sized items, or non-palletized goods; (2) You want to store medium-duty loads; (3) You need compact storage with manual handling and immediate access to all stored goods;

• Compared with selective pallet rack, there are shelves placed on beams of the same level within the long-span shelving system. And normally, the load capacity of shelving is smaller than racking.

• It is sensitive to weight. Do not store loads heavier than the maximum load capacity. If you want to store a large volume of heavy-duty goods, a pallet racking system is more advisable.

• For high storage levels which is difficult to reach, a mechanical device like a stepped trolley is necessary for a long-span shelving system.
