Troponin (Tn) is a protein on myocyte myofibrillin that regulates the calcium-mediated interaction between actin and myosin. It exists in myocardium and skeletal muscle and consists of troponin T (TnT), troponin ⅰ (Tn ⅰ) and troponin C (TnC) subunits. TnT is a tropomyosin binding subunit that interacts with actin and tropomyosin. TnI is an inhibitory subunit that inhibits actomyosin ATPase activity. TnC is the only subunit that binds calcium and causes contraction of skeletal or myocardial muscle. Cardiac troponin (cTn) is divided into two types, namely cardiac troponin T (cTnT) and cardiac troponin I (cTnI). CTnT can be detected in serum 2 hours after acute myocardial infarction, with a long existence time and high concentration. The value of cTnI in the early diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction is the same as that of cTnT.
