1. Description
SiC-88%, SiO2-10%, Al2O3-.5%. 18% Porosity, Bulk Density is 2.6/g.cm-3. It is an alumino-silicate bonded silicon carbide with unique physical properties unlike any other competitive product available. Their manufacturing process includes blending SiC grains with application specific additives, pressing the mix to the final shape and firing the green body at high temperature in gas fired kilns. During the firing process, a limited oxidation of the SiC occurs and contributes to the development of the silicate bond. They are excellent resistors of salt, soda, and wood alkali attack, and they like reduction. Exceptional bond strength and tightly controlled density give kiln shelves years of stable performance.
