Precautions for MoSi2 elements
MoSi₂ heating elements should not be operated within the temperature range of 400 ℃ to 700 ℃. In this unfavorable temperature range, the elements are susceptible to low-temperature oxidation, which can cause damage.
These heating elements are intended for use in air and neutral atmospheres. Reducing atmospheres like hydrogen will damage the protective layer, and chlorine and sulfur vapor will have a direct detrimental effect on the elements.
When the temperature is above 1500 ℃, MoSi₂ heating elements become soft. At low temperatures, they are hard and brittle. To avoid stress due to temperature changes and facilitate the expansion and contraction of the elements, the free vertical hanging installation method is recommended. This makes the removal and replacement of lifting elements easier and allows for heat exchange without waiting for the furnace to cool down.
