Trisodium phosphate functions in power plants

1. Scale prevention and water quality regulation
Inhibit scale formation
Trisodium phosphate can be plasma combined with calcium

and magnesium in water to generate insoluble calcium phosphate

and magnesium phosphate precipitation, thereby reducing the hardness of water

and preventing hard water from forming dense scale attached to the inner wall of the boiler under high temperature

and pressure. This sediment is soft and flocculent (such as alkaline calcium phosphate),

and can be discharged by regular blowdown to avoid a decrease in heat transfer efficiency
Adjust pH
Trisodium phosphate is strongly alkaline after hydrolysis,

which can maintain the pH value of boiler water in the range of 9-12, inhibit acidic corrosion reactions,

and reduce the erosion of metals by oxygen and carbon dioxide
2. Corrosion protection
Form a protective film
Trisodium phosphate reacts with the metal surface of the boiler to form a dense phosphate protective film,

which blocks the direct contact of corrosive substances such as oxygen and chloride ions with the metal,

significantly slowing down the corrosion rate.
Control dissolved oxygen effects
By adjusting the alkaline environment,

the concentration of dissolved oxygen in water can be reduced to reduce the risk of oxidative corrosion 9.

3. Improve operation efficiency and equipment life
Optimized heat transfer
The anti-scale effect can maintain the cleaning of the boiler heating surface

and avoid the decrease in thermal efficiency caused

by scale (research shows that scale can reduce thermal efficiency by more than 10%).
Extend equipment life
Reduce the corrosion and scale of physical and chemical damage to the metal,

so that the boiler life extended by more than 30%.

4. Operation and maintenance points
Dosing control
It is usually added in the form of an aqueous solution with a concentration of 10%,

adding 30-60 grams per ton of water,

which needs to be dynamically adjusted according to the water quality hardness and boiler load,

and excessive may lead to low alkalinity or deterioration of water quality
Water quality monitoring
pH, phosphoric acid concentration, and calcium and magnesium ion content were regularly tested to

ensure that the water quality met standards (e.g. PO₄³⁻ maintained in concentration 5-15 mg/L)
Sewage management
The resulting loose sediment needs to be discharged through continuous or regular blowdown to

prevent secondary scaling or blockage of the pipeline

5. Synergies with other agents
Trisodium phosphate is often used in combination with sodium hydroxide, corrosion inhibitors,

or deaerators. For example:
Sodium hydroxide: help adjust pH to the ideal range 9;
Deaerator: further reduce the concentration of dissolved oxygen, enhance the anti-corrosion effect 8.
