Thiourea is used in industry
1. Metal surface treatment and plating
Metal cleaning and rust removal: thiourea is used as a cleaning agent
and rust remover for metal surfaces, which can effectively remove oxides and rust on metal surfaces.
Plating additives: In the plating industry, thiourea is used as a brightener and stabilizer to
improve the uniformity and gloss of the coating, especially in the plating process of silver,
copper, zinc and other metals.
Metal corrosion inhibitor: thiourea can be used as a corrosion inhibitor to protect metal surfaces from corrosion.
2. Chemical engineering and synthesis
Chemical intermediates: Thiourea is an important intermediate for the synthesis of many chemicals, such as:
Synthesis of sulfides, mercaptans and thioethers.
Raw materials for the preparation of medicines and pesticides.
Resins and plastics: thiourea is used to synthesize urea-formaldehyde resins and plastics to improve the properties of materials.
3. Textile industry
Dye additives: thiourea is used as a dye additive in the textile industry to
help the dye better adhere to the fiber and improve the dyeing effect.
Bleach: thiourea can be used in the bleaching process of textiles to remove impurities and pigments.
4. Photography and photosensitive materials
Developer: Thiourea is used in the photographic industry as a developer component to
help photosensitive materials develop.
Stabilizer: Thiourea can stabilize the chemical properties of photosensitive materials and extend their service life.
5. Medicine and pesticides
Pharmaceutical synthesis: Thiourea is an important raw material for the synthesis of certain drugs,
such as anti-thyroid drugs and anti-cancer drugs.
Pesticide production: Thiourea is used in the synthesis of insecticides, fungicides and herbicides.
6. Mining and Metallurgy
Precious metal extraction: thiourea is used to extract gold, silver and other precious metals from ores,
as a leaching agent to replace cyanide, with environmental advantages.
Flotation agent: In the mineral flotation process, thiourea is used as a flotation agent to
help separate the target mineral.
