Type selection

Rivet head form
The choice of rivet head form is generally based on the requirements of the performance of riveting or aesthetic considerations, the performance requirements of the riveting:

• - The flatness of the workpiece after riveting (whether the head of the rivet and the sheet metal);
• - Shear, peel and fatigue strength test;
• - Marking position or for mechanical stop;
• - A very large surface;
• - Subsequent process needs.

Countersunk head rivets

Advantage:

• - Riveted joint head side is very smooth;
• - High fatigue strength.

Flat head rivets, head rivets and ball head rivets

Advantage:

• - Provides a great tightening force, especially for plastic plates or thinner metal plates;
• - To ensure that the rivet head positioning, especially for thicker or harder plate;
• - Highlighting the aesthetics of the rivet joint or covering the recesses of the root of the rivet.

Rivet length and nail bar diameter

The length of the rivet needs to be considered in connection with the thickness of the riveted plate set. A certain length of the rivet can cover a certain range of plate thicknesses. The optimum length of the rivet can be determined experimentally for the hardness and thickness of the riveted plate set. Companies can provide a variety of rivets from 4 mm to 14 mm in length.
