Bright Round Bar Aisi/Sae 1215 Free Cutting Steel Bar

Higher cutting speed can be applied. This concept is described as shorter operation time. Tool life increases according to the increase in wear life of the tool. Due to this effect tool cost and time spent for setting new tools decreases.

Why are the free-machining steels difficult to weld?

Free-machining steels with sulfur and phosphorus have relatively poor weldability because cracks can form during the final stages of weld solidification. The cracks arise from the presence of liquid MnS and phosphorous compounds at the weld metal grain boundaries.
