Industrial Ultra Pure Water Treatment System RO Plant With EDI
EDI System
EDI system is a process in which mixed ion exchange resin is used to adsorb anions and cations in feed water, and at the same time, the adsorbed ions are removed through anion and cation exchange membranes respectively under the action of DC voltage.

EDI system consists of three elements
EDI technical standard, EDI software and hardware, and EDI technical communication network. The EDI device consists of a booster pump, an electrodeionization (EDI) membrane block, a DC stabilized power supply, a flow meter, and a meter.

The Working Process of EDI Water Treatment Plant
In the EDI membrane block, a certain number of EDI units are separated by grids to form a concentrated water chamber and a fresh water chamber. In turn, negative/positive electrodes are provided at both ends of the cell. Driven by direct current, the anions and cations in the water flow through the fresh water chamber migrate to the concentrated water chamber through the anion and cation exchange membrane respectively and are removed in the fresh water chamber. As shown below:
What is the most important part of EDI work?
EDI membrane stack is the core of EDI work. The membrane stack is a unit composed of anion and cation exchange membranes, thin and concentrated water compartment separators, ion exchange resins and positive and negative electrodes arranged and clamped according to certain rules. The fresh water chamber in the membrane stack is equivalent to a mixed bed. The ion exchange resins used are sulfonic acid type cation resin and quaternary amine type anion resin. The resin in the fresh water chamber must be packed tightly.
