NBR Rotary Shaft Oil Seal brief description:

Oil seal is the customary name for general seals, which is simply the seal of lubricating oil. It is a mechanical component used to seal grease (oil is the most common liquid substance in the transmission system, and also refers to the general liquid substance in general). It isolates the parts that need to be lubricated in the transmission parts from the output parts, and does not allow lubrication Oil leaks. Static seals and dynamic seals (generally reciprocating) use seals called oil seals.
The representative form of the oil seal is the TC oil seal, which is a double-lip oil seal with a self-tightening spring covered with rubber. Generally speaking, the oil seal often refers to this tc skeleton oil seal.

Oil Seals or Rotary Shaft oil Seals are designed to provide a barrier to retain lubricant and to keep out contamination. They are available in metric and imperial sizes with a variety of sealing lip arrangements the most common of which are:

  • R21 - Single Sprung Lip
  • R23 - Single Sprung Lip with the addition of a wiper lip to help keep out contamination

Oil Seals are constructed using a steel case which is usually covered in rubber. Various materials are available the most common materials are:

  • Nitrile Rubber (NBR) - Temperature Range -40 to +110 degree C - Usually coloured Black
  • Rubber (FPM) - Temperature Range -30 to +225 degrees C - Usually coloured Brown
