Low Capacitance 4.5mm*3.2mm SMD 230XM Gas Discharge Tube For Telecommunications
SMD 230XM.pdf
Gas discharge tubes (GDT) use noble gasses enclosed in ceramic tubes to provide an alternate circuit path for voltage spikes. The ceramic envelope and with nickel connectors allow for high loads and Ruilon offers products that function at 20KA,40KA,50KA,60KA,100KA&150KA.The breakdown voltages of the devices have a wide range (up to 20% tolerance). Major applications are high frequency telecommunication lines, stations, security systems,HID and high quality Surge Protection Devices (SPD).
Selection principle
(1) The DC discharge voltage of the gas discharge tube must be higher than the maximum voltage during normal operation of the line, so as not to affect the normal operation of the line.
(2) The pulse discharge voltage of the gas discharge tube must be lower than the highest instantaneous voltage value that the line can withstand, so as to ensure that the gas discharge tube can respond faster than the line in the event of instantaneous overvoltage, and limit the overvoltage to a safe value in advance .
(3) The holding voltage of the gas discharge tube should be as high as possible. Once the overvoltage disappears, the gas discharge tube can be extinguished in time without affecting the normal operation of the line.
(4) The ground wire should be as short as possible and thick enough to facilitate the discharge of transient large currents.
(5) If the overvoltage lasts too long, the gas discharge tube will generate a lot of heat. In order to prevent damage to the protected equipment due to overheating, the gas discharge tube should be equipped with a failure protection card device. Nowadays, some new products of gas discharge tubes have fail-safe cards.
