The heel blade safety lancet is used to collect quality blood samples from infants for metabolic screening as well as glucose and other tests. Automatic retraction is designed to avoid needlestick injuries and cross-contamination exposure. Studies have shown that the need for repeat sticks when using a micro-blade preemie lancet is virtually eliminated, also a reduction in pain reponse from the infant test subjects. Post testing showed that the incision site is often well healed within 24 hours with minimal signs of prolonged superficial bruising or hematoma. Additionally, the blood samples obtained by the micro-blade neonatal lancet imporoved testing accuracy and enabled the blood to flow more naturally without the need to press or massage.
