ASTM A53 General Zinc Galvanized Structure Seamless Pipe
1. Description
ASTM A53 is a hot-dip galvanized pipe with very good quality, which is much better than electro galvanizing. The export volume is very large, it is a common type of general structure pipe. We can customize different outer diameter, wall thickness and length according to customers' requirements. This product is widely used and belongs to general pipe. not suitable for high temperature and high pressure environment.
ASTM A53 standards cover two kinds of steel grade, A and B. ASTM A53 A is lower Tensile strength then A53 B, it's easier to be bend.
Generally, the thickness of galvanizing layer is 5-15 μ m, while that of hot-dip galvanizing layer is more than 35 μ m, even up to 200 μ M. The coating is compact and free of organic inclusions. As we all know, the mechanism of zinc's resistance to atmospheric corrosion includes mechanical protection and electrochemical protection. Under atmospheric corrosion conditions, there are ZnO, Zn (OH) 2 and basic zinc carbonate protective films on the surface of zinc layer, which can slow down the corrosion of zinc to a certain extent. This protective film (also known as white rust) will be damaged and form a new film. When the zinc layer is seriously damaged and endangers the iron matrix, zinc produces electrochemical protection for the matrix, the standard potential of zinc, the standard potential of iron, when zinc and iron form a micro battery, zinc is dissolved as an anode, and iron as a cathode is protected. Obviously, the resistance of hot-dip galvanizing to atmospheric corrosion of base metal iron is better than that of electro galvanizing.
