Characteristics.
High hardness and better wear resistance, when grinding, it has the disadvantage of being more sticky and heating up quickly, but it is easier to polish than any carbon steel and much easier to cut material with a hand saw. 440C has a very low annealing temperature and the hardness usually reaches HRC56-58, corrosion resistance and toughness are very strong, now it is more widely used in hand-made knives and high-quality factory-made knives.
Uses.
440C ASSAB special steel after quenching high hardness, good corrosion resistance (magnetic) tableware (knife), turbine blades After quenching, than 440 steel hardness (magnetic) knife blade, pipe nozzle, valve, plate ruler, cutlery (scissors).
Mechanical properties.
Internal stress (250 N/mm2) Tensile strength (560 N/mm2) EL (18 %) HB (250)
Chemical composition.
C: 0.95~1.20, Si: 1.00, Mn: 1.00, P: 0.040, S: 0.030, Cr: 16.0~18.0, Mo: 0.75, hardness HRC: 58~62
Characteristic applications.
440C has the zui high hardness of all stainless steel, heat-resistant steel. Used in nozzles, bearings. 440F: is to improve the 440C steel easy to cut performance of the steel. Used for automatic lathe. Martensitic stainless steel has the same hardening characteristics as ordinary alloy steel by quenching, so a wide range of different mechanical properties can be obtained by selecting the grade and heat treatment conditions.
