The Type 3730 electro-pneumatic positioner series is designed to cater to a wide range of general industrial applications. SAMSON offers several model versions of this series, ensuring that all end users' and process requirements are met. The basic control positioners of the 3730-0 and 3730-1 make up the series.
The 3730-2 marks the beginning of a full-function parameterization and advanced diagnostics, which provides a much more advanced and refined control over the process. More advanced communication protocols like HART (3730-3), Profibus (3730-4), and Foundation Fieldbus (3730-5) have been introduced by SAMSON, starting from the 3730-2. The full-function parameterization involves the ability to characterize the reference variable, travel range, and characteristic - linear and equal percentage - and performance characteristics - PID control coefficients.
The 3730-2 series also comes with additional features like status message logging, data logging, histograms, drive signals, end position trending, static characteristic testing, partial stroke testing, and full stroke testing. With these advanced diagnostic capabilities, the end-user can take full control of their industrial application and ensure that their production process, output, and product quality are on par with the highest industry standards.
The SAM DIGITAL READY Electropneumatic Positioner is designed for use with linear and rotary actuators in control valve applications. The positioner features a die-cast aluminum or stainless steel housing, and can be attached to linear actuators according to IEC 60534-6, VDI/VDE 3847, or SAMSON integral attachment.
The positioner can also be attached to rotary actuators according to VDI/VDE 3845, or double-acting actuators with Type 3710 Reversing Amplifier. It features integrated EXPERTplus diagnostics for control valves, and can be mounted in any desired position (but not suspended).
Operating the positioner is simple thanks to the one-knob, menu-driven operation and easy-to-read display, which can be rotated for use in any mounting position. It can also be configured with a computer over the SSP interface using the TROVIS-VIEW software, with variable automatic start-up options available thanks to four different initialization modes.
The calibrated travel sensor is fitted without gears that are susceptible to wear, and the positioner features two standard programmable position alarms. Other features include automatic zero monitoring, integrated temperature sensor and operating hours counter, and self-diagnostics.
Messages are provided in a condensed state conforming to NAMUR Recommendation NE 107, and are issued over a fault alarm contact or optional analog position transmitter. The positioner can be started up in an emergency using the sub (substitution) initialization mode, without having to change the valve position. All parameters are saved in non-volatile EEPROM, and the two-wire system has a small electrical load of 410 Ω. The output pressure limitation and tight-closing function are adjustable for greater control, and a DTM file is available for integration into FDT frame applications according to specification 1.2.
