Liquid silicone rubber - LSR is very low viscosity silicone that can be intended for use in liquid injection molding (LIM) equipment or cast into silicone rubber sheets. LSRs are generally injection molded or cast while gum based silicones are typically compression molded. It offers high thermal stability and flexibility at low temperatures, high transparency and is easily colored.

Liquid Silicone Rubber has good Mechanical Properties:low compression set, good elongation, high tear and tensile strength etc.

Liquid Silicone Rubber Durometer: hardness is from 5 Shore A to 80 Shore A

Liquid silicone can withstand a wide range of high/low temperature extremes, which offers high thermal stability and flexibility at low temperatures. Working temperature is from -40℃ to 230℃.

LSR can be sterilized by steam antoclaving, ethylene oxide, gamma, e-beam etc.

LSR can meet all food grade and medical requirements or certifications, like USP Class VI, FDA 21 CFR 177.2600, BfR XV etc.

Liquid silicone rubber electrical properties: excellent insulating property. Some elastomeric LSR is flame proof as which includes fire retardant.

LSR Transparency and Pigmentation: LSR is platinum-cured and transparent silicone which is more transparent than solid silicone. Liquid silicone rubber can be mixed with pigment to produce colorful LSR injection molded products.

Liquid Silicone Rubber Injection Molding

Liquid silicone rubbers are supplied in barrels. Because of their low viscosity, these rubbers can be pumped through pipelines and tubes to the vulcanization equipment.

Liquid silicone rubber is a high purity platinum cured silicone with low compression set, great stability and ability to resist extreme temperatures of heat and cold ideally suitable for production of parts, where high quality is a must. Due to the thermosetting nature of the material, liquid silicone injection molding requires special treatment, such as intensive distributive mixing, while maintaining the material at a low temperature before it is pushed into the heated cavity and vulcanized.

Liquid silicone rubber molding involves room temperature compounds mixed and pumped into a hot mold. Tooling designs are simplified as liquid silicone rubber flows readily into very thin cross sections, tight radii and thick / thin features. Tooling surfaces do not have to be highly polished, and draft angles are not required to facilitate removal of the finished component from the tooling.

When the cure cycle is complete, the molded silicone gasket (LIM gasket) can be removed without concern of distortion or tearing as the silicone is fully cured. (TPRs and TPEs would require ejector pins and draft angles designed into the molds).
