IEC 60320-1 Figure 19 Coupler Lateral Pulling Test Apparatus
Equipment overview:
Th coupler lateral pulling test apparatus is manfactured according to the IEC60320-1 clause 23.3 and figure 19.
It is used to test the connector being pulled out of the appliance socket under lateral stress, so as to assess the mechanical strength of the coupler.
The connector with a rating exceeding 0,2 A is inserted into an appliance inlet of a type corresponding with the connector to be tested and complying with the relevant standard sheet. The appliance inlet is mounted in an appropriate test apparatus, an example of which is shown in IEC 60320-1 figure 19, with the pins pointing upwards. The dimension 40 mm ± 2 mm shall be complied with. A lateral pull, as specified in IEC 60320-1 table 7, is applied to the cord first in a direction perpendicular to the plane containing the axes of the current-carrying pins, and is immediately released. This sequence of operation is made 50 times in one direction and then 50 times in the opposite direction.
