Multi media filter is a process that uses one or several filter media to pass water with high turbidity through granular or non granular materials with a certain thickness under a certain pressure, so as to effectively remove suspended impurities and clarify water. The commonly used filter materials include quartz sand, anthracite, manganese sand, etc., which are mainly used for water treatment and turbidity removal, softening water, pre-treatment of pure water, etc., and the effluent turbidity can reach below 3 degrees.Meaning of filtration: in the process of water treatment, filtration generally refers to the process of intercepting suspended
impurities in water with filter material layers such as quartz sand and anthracite, so as to make water clear. The porous material used for filtration is called filter material, and quartz sand is a common filter material. The filter materials are granular,powdery and fibrous. Common filter materials include quartz sand, anthracite, activated carbon, magnetite, tourmaline, porous
ceramics, plastic balls, etc.
The multi-media filter (filter bed) is a medium filter with more than two media as the filter layer. In the industrial circulating water treatment system, it is used to remove impurities and adsorbed oil in sewage, so that the water quality can meet the requirements of recycling. The function of filtration is mainly to remove suspended or colloidal impurities in water, especially
micro particles and bacteria that cannot be removed by sedimentation technology. BOD5 and COD also have a certain degree of removal effect.

Main Features
1. Porous media filters are widely used in water treatment processes and can be used alone, but most of them are used as prefiltration for advanced water treatment (exchange resin, electrodialysis, reverse osmosis).
2. Multi media filter is a commonly used pretreatment device for deep purification of water quality. Different filter materials can be added according to the process requirements.
3. The multi-media filter can be made of glass fiber reinforced plastics, A3 steel anti-corrosion or rubber lining, all stainless steel. The operation modes are fully automatic and manual. The automatic control is controlled by the automatic controller and pneumatic and hydraulic valves imported from the United States. It is simple to operate and easy to maintain. It is widely used in the pretreatment devices of water treatment processes in all walks of life.
4. The filter material of multi-media filter (including double filter material filter) shall have sufficient chemical stability,and the relative density and particle size of each medium shall be different. The relative density of anthracite used in the double-layer filter material filter composed of anthracite and quartz sand is 1.4-1.6, with particle size of 0.8-1.8mm, and the
relative density of quartz sand is 2.6-2.65, with particle size of 0.5-1.2mm; In addition to the above two filter materials, the three-layer filter can also use heavy ores such as manganese sand and magnetite, with a relative density of 4.7-5.0 and a particle size of 0.5-4mm.
