High-Performance Rotating Biological Contactor for Wastewater Treatment
Rotating Biological Contactor (RBC)
Rotating Biological Contactor (RBC) is a type of wastewater treatment technology that utilizes biofilm growth on rotating discs to treat organic pollutants. This system is particularly effective in treating municipal and industrial wastewater.
Working Principle
Wastewater Inflow: Raw wastewater is introduced into the RBC system, where it flows over the rotating discs.
Biofilm Activity: As the discs rotate, the biofilm is alternately submerged in the wastewater and exposed to the atmosphere. This cycling enhances oxygen transfer and nutrient uptake by the microorganisms.
Treatment Process: The microorganisms degrade organic pollutants, converting them into biomass and other byproducts. The treated water is then collected for further processing or discharge.
Sloughing of Biomass: Over time, excess biomass detaches from the discs and is removed from the system, maintaining the effectiveness of the biofilm.
