LGS Series Roller compactor(Dry Granulator)
Preface
◆ LGS Series Roller compactor(Dry Granulator) is a newly self-developed equipment with integration of the extrusion, pulverizing and granulating. It also belongs to a new equipment with function of energy-saving and environment protection.
◆ For this equipment, it adopted the latest rolling control technology.
◆ Through adjusting the physical properties of fluctuation between different materials and the same materials, it can make the powder material into particle material directly, which also makes the process parameters of the roller compactor (dry granulator ) accurate and adjust continuously (such as capacity, flake density, rolling pressure, speed and so on). Therefore it can produce high quality granules efficiently and also improve the stability, the disintegration and solubility of the granule.

Applications
LGS series Roller Compactor (dry granulator) is widely used for material granulating in pharmaceutical industry, foodstuff industry and chemical industry, especially for the material which is easy to decompose or agglomerate once they met moisture and heat. The machine is in compact structure, simple operation, easy dismantling and cleaning. In the pharmaceutical industry, the material from roller compactor (dry granule) can be tablet-compressing or capsule-filling directly.
Features
◆ Compared with traditional wet granulator, the roller compactor (dry granulator)can make the raw material power into the granule without adding any intermediate and additive. Meanwhile, the granule from the roller compactor (dry granulator ) is very uniform in fineness, and the bulk density of granule is extremely increased.
◆ Such process for roller compactor (dry granulator ) can not only control the pollution during the process, reduce the area occupied, but also decrease the power consumption, which makes the process flow more reasonable. It improves the material appearance and flow-ability, and makes the material storage and transport easily. Meanwhile, the solubility of the material, the specific surface area and porosity can be controlled. For the roller compactor (dry granulator), it is especially suitable for the material which can’t be made into granule by wet mixing granulator and fluidizing granulator. The advantages of the roller compactor (dry granulator) are as follows:
(1) As to avoiding cross pollution during the process, we equip the machine with the granulating device and drive device separately.
(2) All material contact parts are convenient to be dismantled for cleaning. It can avoid the dust flying effectively in order to reduce the pollution possibility.
(3) Filling mechanism with natural vent channel can make the material distribute into the machine informally, and make the bulk density unique.
(4) Unique cooling system makes the roller adjust its temperature itself.
(5) Two-grade granulating system can ensure the machine produce the required granule.
(6) The equipment adopts visual design, it is convenient for the operator to observe, and maintain the machine.
(7) PLC control, POD display, easy operation.
(8) Meet the requirement of GMP.
Principle
After mixing, the well-mixed powder is fed into the roller compactor(dry granulator) hopper via feeding system(vacuum feeding or manual feeding). There is a scale on both top and bottom of the hopper to monitor the level of the fed material. Through a transverse screw feeder, powdery materials are fed into the vertical screw feeder. The vertical screw feeder then feeds the product into the nip area of the compacting rolls. Due to different diameters and speed between screw feeders, pre-compacting effect is produced on powders and materials. If material is not fed before compacting, then the final compacted product would probably split or break. To solve this problem, this machine is equipped with vacuum feeding system. In some cases, the output is increased by 4-5times and compacting efficiency is improved by 40%. The roller compactor then compacts the material into flakes. The flakes then fall into one or several subsequent sieving mills after compaction. Incoming flakes are reduced in size and sieved into granules with desired grain sizes. Optional screening machine is available on request. Undersized particle can be fed if necessary. The whole process can be controlled by the PLC and achieve automatic production in a complete system.
Process flow
After mixing, the well-mixed powder would enter the feeding material silo from the top feeding port. By the transfer device, the well-mixed powder is delivered into the extruding device. By the force of two pressure extruding gear, the powder material become thin flakes. Through the two-grade milling system, it makes the thin flake material into the required granule, and then finishing the granulating process.
