AMS 5504 Stainless Steel Flat Bar UNS S41000 Sheet Steel
Describe
AMS 5504 stainless steel is a general-purpose martensitic stainless steel containing 11.5% chromium with good corrosion resistance. However, through a series of processes such as quenching, tempering, and polishing, the corrosion resistance of AMS 5504 steel can be further enhanced. Quenching and tempering can harden AMS 5504 steel. They are typically used in applications involving mild corrosion, heat resistance and high strength.
Martensitic stainless steels are manufactured using techniques that require a final heat treatment. These grades have poor corrosion resistance compared to austenitic grades. Their operating temperature is often affected by loss of strength at elevated temperatures due to overtempering and loss of ductility at sub-zero temperatures.
