Material note of 904L Seamless pipe

904L stainless steel pipe (00Cr20Ni25Mo4.5Cu) has better corrosion resistance of austenitic stainless steel. Because adding 1.5% copper, it also has excellent corrosion resistance for reducing acids such as sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid. In addition, it has low carbon characteristics for welding purposes.

Because 904L carbon content is very low (up to 0.020%), there will be no carbide precipitation in general heat treatment and welding. This eliminates the risk of intergranular corrosion after general heat treatment and welding. 904L stainless steel pipe because of its high chromium, nickel and molybdenum content and the addition of copper element .It can be passivated even in reductive environments, such as sulfuric acid and formic acid. The high nickel content makes it have a lower corrosion rate in the active state. In pure sulphuric acid in the concentration range of 0-98%, the temperature of 904L can be as high as 40 C. The corrosion resistance of pure phosphoric acid in the concentration range of 0-85% is very good.
