Duplex Stainless Steel Wire Duplex 2205 Austenitic-Ferritic Stainless Steel Wire

Introduction:

Duplex stainless steel wire, also known as austenitic-ferritic stainless steel wire, is a series of grades with approximately equal proportions of ferrite and austenite, containing a mixture of austenite and ferrite in its structure. It has two-phase properties, excellent corrosion resistance and high mechanical strength. Duplex stainless steel wire contains high content of chromium (19%-28%) and low to medium amount of nickel (0.5%-8%). Duplex 2205 (UNS S32205) is one of the most widely used duplex stainless steels, Hightop also offers UNS S31803, and super duplex such as Zeron 100 (UNS S32760) and 2507 (UNS S32750) which is suitable for harsh corrosive environments.

Some characteristics of 2205 duplex stainless steel wire cloth which dictate its use are:

Duplex stainless steel (both ferritic and austenitic).
Less frequently used stainless steel alloy in the industrial wire cloth world (T-304 & T-316 being the most common).
Magnetic in all conditions.
Withstands outdoor exposure without rusting.
Good fatigue strength & excellent corrosion resistance in severe industrial and chemical settings.
Best used in temperatures below 570°F (undergoes embrittlement at higher temperatures).
Easily welded, more difficult to cut and form than T-316L (thus, higher cutting forces are required).

Features:

Better corrosion resistance and non-magnetic properties than 302 & 304 stainless.
Better pitting and crevice corrosion resistance than 302 & 304 stainless steel.
