Description

The second-generation duplex stainless steels are generally referred to as standard duplex stainless steel component is characterized by ultra-low carbon, nitrogen, its typical composition of 22% Cr + 5% Ni + 0.17% N. Compared with the first-generation duplex stainless steels, nitrogen content in 2205 to further improve and enhance the resistance to stress corrosion and pitting corrosion resistance in high chloride ion concentration of the acidic medium. Nitrogen is a strong austenite forming elements added to duplex stainless steel, both to improve the strength of steel and does not significantly damage the plasticity and toughness of steel, but also inhibit the precipitation of carbides and σ phase formation delay.

Duplex stainless austenitic and ferritic about 50/50 (2205 duplex stainless steel ferrite content should be 30% to 55%, typically around 45%) at room temperature, solid solution, both two-phase structure features . It retains the ferritic stainless steel large thermal conductivity, low coefficient of linear expansion, resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and chloride stress characteristics; austenitic stainless steel also has good toughness and low brittle transition temperature, resistance to intergranular corrosion, mechanical and weldability good advantages.
