Test methods

1 Tensile test

1.1 Tensile test at room temperature, the test shall be carried out at room temperature in accordance with EN 10002-1

1.2 Tensile test at elevated temperature, the test shall be carried out in accordance with EN 10002-5 at 400 °C or 300°C

2 Flattening test shall be carried out in accordance with EN 10233.

3 Ring tensile test shall be carried out in accordance with EN 10237.

4 Drift expanding test shall be carried out in accordance with EN 10234.

5 Ring expanding test shall be carried out in accordance with EN 10236.

6 Impact test shall be carried out in accordance with EN 10045-1,

7 Leak tightness test

7.1 Hydrostatic test

7.2 Electromagnetic test

8 Dimension inspection

9 Visual examination

10 Non-destructive test

Tubes of test category 2 shall be subjected Non-Destructive Testing for the detection of longitudinal imperfections, in accordance with EN 10246-7, to acceptance level U2 sub-category C or EN 10246-5 acceptance level F2.

Material identification

Each tube made of steel grades P460 , P620 and P690 shall be tested by an appropriate method to ensure that the correct grade is being supplied.

Leak-tightness

The tubes shall pass a hydrostatic test or electromagnetic test for leak tightness.

Non-Destructive testing

The tubes of test category 2 shall be subjected to a Non-Destructive testing for the detection of longitudinal imperfections.

Straightness

The deviation from straightness of any tube length L shall not exceed 0,0015 L. Deviations from straightness over any one metre length shall not exceed 3 mm.

Preparation of ends

Tubes shall be delivered with square cut ends. The ends shall be free from excessive burrs.

Types of inspection documents

An inspection certificate 3.1.B, in accordance with EN 10204, shall be issued.

Content of inspection documents

The content of the inspection document shall be in accordance with prEN 10168.

The inspection certificate or inspection report shall contain the following codes and information:

- commercial transactions and parties involved;

- description of products to which the inspection document applies;

- direction of the test pieces and testing temperature;

- tensile test;

- impact test;

- other tests (e.g. flattening);

- chemical composition on cast analysis (product analysis if applicable);

- marking and identification, surface appearance, shape and dimensional properties;

- leak-tightness test, NDT, material identification if applicable;

Appearance

1 The tubes shall be free from external and internal surface defects, that can be detected by visual examination.

2 The internal and external surface finish of the tubes shall be typical of the manufacturing process and, where applicable, the heat treatment employed. Normally the finish and surface condition shall be such that any surface imperfections requiring dressing can be identified.
