The Purpose Of Forged Flanges
Forged flanges combine two separate machinery parts together. They can be an extension to a structure in order to make the object stronger. Industrial flanges have numerous uses including connecting sheets, pumps, pipes and structures that specifically require an intermediate point of connection.
Types Of Forged Flanges
Stainless steel flanges come in many different types. Each type meets its own requirement. Long weld neck flanges are attached to a pipes neck. The way this flange is welded ensures the thickness is the same as the dimensions of the pipe that it was connected to. These flanges are most commonly used for applications that use high pressure.
Advantages
A connection that has been FCI forged will eliminate certain aspects of shop fabrication. A reinforced pad application eliminates the need for cutting, drilling, layout, forming and the tapping of the weep hole.
Better Quality Control
The inspections relating to shop fabrication, components and material trace ability is greatly reduced. This lets the Quality Control Inspectors use their time in areas that are of a more critical concern. Barrel distortion is also reduced significantly.
Reduced Production Costs
The FCI has reduced the production of fabrication costs. This applies to material requisitioning, purchasing, expediting, quality control, inspections, documentation, testing, the fabrication schedule and material requisitioning. All of this lowers the cost of production and saves money.
