H-beam is a kind of high efficient profile with economic cross-section which the distribution of cross-section area is more optimized and the ratio of strength to weight is more reasonable, and it is named because its cross-section is the same as the letter “H” in English. Since all parts of H-beam are arranged at right angles, H-beam has the advantages of strong bending resistance in all directions, simple construction, cost saving and light weight of structure, etc., and has been widely used.
There are many product specifications of H-beam, and there are several classification methods.
(1) According to the width of the product flange is divided into wide flange, center flange and narrow flange H steel. Wide flange and center flange H steel flange width B is greater than or equal to the height of the web H. Narrow flange H steel flange width B is approximately equal to one-half of the web height H.
(2) According to the product use is divided into H-beam, H-beam column, H-beam pile, very thick flange H-beam. Sometimes also parallel leg channel steel and parallel flange d-beam steel is also included in the scope of H-beam. Generally narrow flange H-beam as beam material, wide flange H-beam as column material, according to which there are beam H-beam and column H-beam.
(3) According to the production method is divided into welded H-beam and rolled H-beam.
(4) According to the size specification size is divided into large, medium and small H-beam. Usually the web height H in 700mm above the product is called large, 300 ~ 700mm is called medium, less than 300mm is called small.
