High nickel and molybdenum content for good corrosion resistance in reducing environments Low carbon content to minimise precipitation of grain boundary carbides during welding and in the heat affected zone of the weld joint Resistance to localised corrosion such as pitting and stress corrosion cracking one of the few materials that can withstand the corrosive effects of wet chlorine gas, hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide
