What is ASTM A182 F51?
A182 F51 duplex stainless steel is a compound stainless steel alloyed with 21% chromium, 2.5% molybdenum and 4.5% nickel-nitrogen. it has high strength, good impact toughness and good overall and localized resistance to stress corrosion. It has high strength, good impact toughness, and good overall and localized resistance to stress corrosion. The yield strength of A182 F51 duplex stainless steel is twice that of austenitic stainless steels, a characteristic that allows designers to reduce weight when designing products and gives this alloy a price advantage over 316 and 317L.
Characteristic of ASTM A182 F51 Flange
Duplex Structure: ASTM A182 F51 flanges are a duplex stainless steel, consisting of austenite and ferrite. The austenitic phase provides good corrosion resistance and mechanical strength, while the ferritic phase provides high strength and corrosion resistance.
CORROSION RESISTANCE: ASTM A182 F51 flanges have excellent corrosion resistance, especially for chloride media and acidic environments. It is resistant to stress corrosion cracking and pitting corrosion, which ordinary stainless steel cannot tolerate.
MECHANICAL STRENGTH: ASTM A182 F51 flanges have relatively high strength and can operate stably under high pressure and high temperature conditions. It has good tensile strength, yield strength and impact resistance.
Abrasion resistance: ASTM A182 F51 flange has good abrasion resistance and can be used for a long time in abrasive environments.
Weldability: ASTM A182 F51 flanges have good weldability and can be welded by conventional welding methods.
Machinability: ASTM A182 F51 flanges are easy to process and form, and can be cut, forged, drilled, etc. by common processing methods.
