ASTM B983 NO7718 Tube

ASTM B983 is a standard specification for seamless and welded nickel-cobalt-iron alloy tube, specifically alloy NO7718. This specification covers tubes of various sizes and thicknesses for use in high-temperature and corrosive environments. Nickel-cobalt-iron alloy NO7718 is known for its excellent strength and oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures. The tubes manufactured in accordance with ASTM B983 NO7718 are commonly used in aerospace, chemical processing, and other high-performance applications.

Inconel 718 is a superalloy grade that is designed with an outstanding content of nickel, chromium, and molybdenum. The pipes showcase outstanding strength and creep-rupture properties in high temperature setups. The alloy 718 pipes are designed to work in cryogenic temperatures and can be utilized in service temperatures up to 1200 degrees F. These pipes also have enhanced corrosion resistance properties in different setups. The addition of niobium within these pipes allows for age hardening to take place. This allows for spontaneous annealing and welding procedures during heating and cooling cycles. Designed with a density of 8.192 g/cm3, these pipes have a minimum tensile strength of 13500 psi with a minimum yield strength of 70000psi. The pipes of the 718 alloy can be elongated by 25% and possess a hardness of 100 Rockwell B.

Inconel tubes are designed for use in high temperature systems that are susceptible to corrosive media. These tubes are a common feature in chemical processing, liquid fuel rocket motors, casings, aerospace industry, pollution control equipment, and nuclear reactors. These tubes can also be used in producing valves, fasteners, springs, cryogenic storage tanks, blow out preventers, tubing hangers, etc.

The alloy 718 tube is very difficult to machine due to its special properties. These modules rapidly work-harden during the machining process, and the presence of hard carbides in their microstructure makes machining difficult. The similar properties that make this grade a good choice in harsh environments make them very difficult to machine into desired dimensions.

Inconel 718 seamless pipe is designed without any welds or seams and possesses optimum strength. A seamless pipe of this grade is a common feature in applications that require to be operating in corrosive media and high-temperature setups. The robust nature of seamless pipes allows them to have enhanced load-bearing capacity as compared to other configurations.
