Alloy 20 will resist corrosion especially in those environments that contain chemicals like nitric acid, phosphoric acid, chlorides and sulfuric acid. Alloy 20 also has good mechanical properties at both ambient as well as elevated temperatures. Alloy 20 is often termed as a superalloy. ASTM B462/ ASME SB462 Uns N08020 Blind Flange has excellent resistance to general corrosion, pitting, and crevice corrosion in chemicals containing chlorides as well as in acidic medium or conditions that contain acidic solutions like sulfuric, phosphoric, and nitric acids.

ASME SB462 Alloy 20 Slip on Flange Vs DIN 2.4660 Weld Neck Flange
The ASME SB462 Alloy 20 Slip on Flange is slipped into the pipe and then the connection is made with the help of double weld- one on the backside of the flange and one in the front. Generally, the slip on flanges are more affordable than the weld neck flanges, but it can become expensive with the number of welding and inspections. Also, the strength of the slip on flange under any internal pressure is around 2/3rd, and fatigue strength is around 1/3rd of that of the weld neck flange
The DIN 2.4660 Weld Neck Flange is easily recognizable by the tapered hub which comes from the bolted connection to the pipe. The connection is made here with the help of but twelding, and that helps in preventing any type of turbulence at the joint. It also minimizes erosion and reduces restriction in the product flow. The alloy 20 weld neck flanges offer enhanced strength under different types of environments.
