Carbon Steel Seamless Tube ASME SA179 Heat Exchanger Condenser
ASTM A179, identical with ASME SA-179, is the standard specification covering minimum-wall-thickness cold-drawn low-carbon steel tubes for tubular heat exchangers, condensers, and similar heat transfer apparatus.
This specification cover tubes 1/8″ to 3″ [3.2 mm to 76.2 mm], inclusive, in outside diameter. The ASTM A179 tubes shall be made by the seamless process and shall be cold drawn; and they shall be heat treated after the final cold draw pass at a temperature of 1200°F [650°C] or higher. These seamless tubes are usually called as low-carbon steel tubes, heat exchanger tubes, boiler tubes, etc.
The steel materials will likewise experience hardness test, straightening test, flaring test, rib test, and hydrostatic test.
Because of A179 grade’s temperature withstanding capabilities, it is applied to steel pipe of tubular heat exchanger, condensers and similar heat transfer equipment. Our ASTM A179 seamless tubes are used in sugar mills & distilleries, pumps and petrochemicals, cement and construction industries and steel plants.

ASTM A179 Material Properties
Carbon Steel SA179 Tubes are used widely due to its excellent tensile strength and yield strength. The properties of the SA179 grade is highly unmatched, some of them are good corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance, pitting resistance, resistance to acid, crevice corrosion resistance and excellent strength.
