A312 type TP316L is a low carbon austenitic stainless steel grade. A312 TP316L is made of high quality nickel, chromium and molybdenum composition and can be used in different industries. This gives items of this grade excellent resistance to corrosion and oxidation. This grade covers standard seamless, welded, ERW, EFW and cold drawn pipe assemblies. ASME SA312 Gr 316L Seamless Tubing is a pressure vessel assembly designed for high temperature and high pressure applications. These pipes are produced as hot billets are passed through extruded metal to precisely shape the material to the correct size. This SA312 grade 316L seamless pipe is slightly more expensive due to the material from which they are produced; however, this grade has excellent load carrying capacity and strength as they do not have any welds or seams on the surfaces of these pipes. ASTM A312 Tp316l cold drawn seamless pipe is manufactured shortly after the hot rolling process. Machined at room temperature, these pipes run on molds and have higher strength and surface finish than regular grades of steel.
A312 Type 316L ERW pipe is produced by rolling sheet or strip and forming longitudinal seams. In this process, high-voltage current is passed through the metal to weld it in place without the need for filler material. ASME SA312 Grade 316L Efw pipes are produced with high speed beams that allow kinetic energy to be converted into heat, the workpiece melts and the material is welded into place.
