ASTM A270 covers the grades of seamless, welded and heavily cold worked austenitic and ferritic/austenitic stainless steel sanitary pipes. Seamless pipes shall be manufactured using a process that does not involve welding at any stage. Welded pipes shall be manufactured using an automated welding process with no filler metal added during the welding process. Heavy-duty cold-worked pipe shall be cold-worked to a reduction of not less than 35% in wall thickness and weld thickness prior to final annealing. Filler must not be used when welding.
All materials shall be supplied in heat treated condition. A length of flat rolled stock or single tube shall be chemically analysed for each heat. Each pipe shall be subjected to mechanical tests such as reverse flattening tests, hydrostatic tests or non-destructive electrical tests.
The following surface finishes can be specified: Milled Finish, Mechanically Polished Surface Finish, 80 Finish, 120 Finish, 180 Finish, 240 Finish, Electropolished Finish, and Max Rough Average Surface Finish. Only the inner surface can be polished longitudinally, the inner surface, outer surface or both can be polished circumferentially.
ASTM A270 A270M Sanitary Tubing is ideal for the dairy, food and beverage industries where the highest purity and cleanliness is required. It is certified to the requirements of ASTM A270, 3A standards and most user specifications.
We stock all pipe sizes in 20' standard lengths, from 1/2" (12.7mm) to 8" (203.2mm) OD. Custom lengths and sizes are available upon request.
ASTM A270 A270M ASME SA270 grades TP304L and TP316L are available from stock. Other grades are available upon request.
